Fair Use Policy
Shift Mobile and Internet Pty Ltd · Last updated 21 July 2026
Our plans include generous — sometimes unlimited — allowances because most people use them the way they're intended: for personal or ordinary business communication. This policy protects those inclusions from the small number of uses that would spoil them for everyone else.
1. Where this policy applies
It applies to every Shift service and in particular to unlimited or "included" allowances, such as unlimited standard national calls and texts, included data, and promotional inclusions.
2. Acceptable use
Ordinary personal use, and ordinary use by a small business for its own communications, is always acceptable — including heavy but genuine use. You never need to ask us before simply using your service a lot.
3. Unacceptable use
We consider the following outside fair use:
- Reselling, wholesaling or commercially exploiting the service or its inclusions without our written agreement.
- Using the service in SIM boxes, gateway devices or for re-routing or refiling traffic.
- Machine-generated, continuous or bulk calling or messaging, including spam and telemarketing blasts.
- Menacing, harassing or unlawful use, or use that infringes anyone's rights.
- Anything that damages, congests or interferes with any network, or attempts to avoid charges.
- Usage patterns so far outside ordinary personal use that they indicate non-personal or automated use.
4. What happens if use isn't fair
- In most cases we'll contact you first, explain what we're seeing, and give you a chance to change the usage or move to a suitable plan.
- If it continues, we may slow, restrict or suspend the affected service, or cancel it with notice.
- For serious cases — fraud, unlawful use, or a threat to the network — we may suspend immediately and notify you as soon as practicable.
5. Questions
If you're unsure whether a planned use is within this policy, ask us first on 1300 744 388 or [email protected] — in most cases the answer is yes.
